SHOWCASE
When the work transcends the award.
Some works don't wait to be understood they assert themselves. Anmarie Leon's La Madone is one of them. A sculpture that catches the light before the eye has finished tracing it, that creates its own particular silence the silence of things that truly matter.
I am not a little proud to have played a part in Anmarie's decision, to have encouraged her to believe in herself and in her work, to have pushed her to enter. What happened next the nomination for the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts, the highest distinction granted by the World Cultural Council belongs to her talent. Entirely her talent. My role ends where hers begins, and that is exactly how it should be. But receiving an award of this magnitude opens a question few anticipate: how do you exhibit a now-laureate work without betraying what it is? The first trap is instrumentalization reducing the sculpture to its prize, turning the label into a selling point. The work becomes a pretext. It is a quiet form of betrayal.

The second trap is more insidious: believing the distinction speaks for itself. An award without a living narrative is merely an archive. In 2025, the tools are plentiful blockchain certification, digital provenance, full traceability but no technology replaces the human story behind a work. What gives La Madone its value is not its certificate. It is what it went through to be recognised.
Current art market trends reward controlled rarity, selective exhibition, an audience that receives the work rather than consumes it. Major galleries are saturated. Private views are reclaiming their supremacy. The space must carry the stature of what it holds otherwise it diminishes rather than elevates.
This Showcase is not a gallery. Nor is it a window display. It is a chosen conversation among those who understand that certain works deserve to be discovered slowly, in the right places, by the right people. La Madone is one of them. And this story is only beginning.

The conversation continues for those who know where to find it.
